SAFETeen Training Workshop in Cyprus

The SAFETeen Training Workshop was successfully held in Cyprus (17-18/09/25), bringing together educators, researchers, and project partners to strengthen capacity in promoting youth mobility safety through innovative pedagogical and digital tools. The event combined theoretical and practical sessions designed to equip pilot teachers with evidence-based knowledge and hands-on skills for classroom application.

The theoretical component provided a shared foundation of knowledge for all participants, explaining teenagers’ risk-taking behavior in mobility, theories of behavior change, the health belief model to explain how mobility behaviors can be influenced and modified, measuring behavior and attitudes, the pedagogical handbook, interventions using technology and findings from focus groups.

The second part of the workshop focused on hands-on learning. Teachers designed, presented, and simulated classroom activities based on SAFETeen results. Through peer feedback, participants learned new methods in integrating mobility safety topics into their lessons. Special focus was given to two innovative digital tools developed within the SAFETeen project, the Emergency-Aid Tool and the Virtual Reality (VR) Application.

The workshop concluded with a structured evaluation session where trainers and trainees reflected on learning outcomes and shared feedback for further future improvement of all material and ICT tools.
