SafeTEEN at the Europe Day 2025 in Heraklion
The Regional Directorate of Primary & Secondary Education of Crete and the School of European Education of Heraklion, with the support of Europe Direct Crete and the Municipality of Heraklion, organized an informational event to celebrate Europe Day 2025. The event took place at Georgiadis Park on Friday, 09/05/2025, from 9:30 to 13:30.
More than 700 students from kindergartens, primary schools, junior high schools, and high schools of the Heraklion regional unit visited 18 thematic stations designed to introduce the identity, characteristics, and values of the European Union. They participated in playful activities, designed by teachers from the School of European Education of Heraklion, with the aim of fostering a European identity.
The event was supported by Europe Direct Crete, which offered an interactive game about the institutions of the European Union; the Eudemos pedagogical team from the 11th General Lyceum of Heraklion, which presented three educational activities to help students understand the EU, its values, and its real impact on citizens; as well as the pedagogical team of the Erasmus+ KA220 program SAFETeen from Hellenic Mediterranean University (ELMEPA), which, with the assistance of students from the program’s pilot schools, implemented experiential activities for teenage students focused on dangerous behaviors on the road.
Also participating in the event were members of the pedagogical teams of the Erasmus+ European programs:
-
“KIDSWELL: Supporting Educators to Ensure an Inclusive Learning Environment for ADHD Children”, and
-
“ELEVATE: Empowering Women in Net-zero Technologies for the Smart Electricity for Buildings (SEB) sector – Bridging the Gap through Vocational Education and Training”,
in both of which the Regional Directorate of Education of Crete is a project partner.
